Job description:

Oversee all daily and month-end facets for the Accounting Department

Essential Function:

  • Prepare required financial statements monthly in accordance with established timeline requirements
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • Reconciliation of Inter and Intra activity.
  • Monitor and forecast cash requirements.
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual internal and external audit submissions
  • Analysis of variances monthly for COGS and Overhead expenses
  • Monthly analysis of profitability by product line
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Update standard costs for production.
  • Knowledge and Application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Oversee General Accounting Department
  • Support Tax submissions as necessary

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related subject required.

Five years or more of related experience preferred.

Must be highly proficient in MS Excel.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of SAP.

Experience with Report writers and Analytical software.

Salary: up to $85K 10% bonus

The CFO is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. It is essential that as the Controller you present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while performing your defined responsibilities.

The CFO directly oversees and manages the accounting department and personnel within the Corporation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Direct, maintain and enforce the accounting department and personnel in cooperation with the specific objective of complying with the general mission statement
  • Maintain consistent and direct communication with Supervisors, Management, and Owners on a day to day basis;
  • Oversee bank accounts and cash management;
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures;
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts;
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in timely manner;
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly;
  • Oversee the payroll process and filing of quarterly payroll and sales tax reports;
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis;
  • Direct and oversee an orderly accounting filing system;
  • Maintain a system of internal controls and/or audits over all accounting transactions;
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements;
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure performance of company operations;
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics;
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts;
  • Analyze variances from the budget and report significant issues to Supervision and Owners;
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations;
  • Coordinate information to external auditors for the annual audit;
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings;
  • Manage commercial banking relationships;
  • Interface with outside accounting firm, banks, lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents, utility vendors, credit card companies, etc;
  • Oversee and manage any IRS requirements or audits;
  • Administer 401K retirement plan;
  • Continuously evaluate existing financing and pursue new financing opportunities for existing operations and new capital projects;Maintain a competent knowledge of all store policies/procedures;
  • Direct and monitor department physical inventories to ensure accuracy and timely financial completion;
  • Maintain proper reporting procedures of all customer or property incidents to carrier and administer claims;
  • Review and monitor work performed by “outside” contracted vendors;
  • Monitor, pursue and enforce energy conservation and general energy efficiency on an ongoing basis.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS


  • BS in accounting or finance;
  • Minimum 10 years of prior Accounting experience.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Retail experience preferred
