Job Overview
The Teaching and Learning (T&L) team at Coursera is a group of learning designers and pedagogy experts. Our team works closely with instructors and learning design teams from top universities and industry partners around the globe, providing best practices, training, consulting, and support in content development to help our partners create transformational learning experiences. We aim to understand the factors that make online courses successful for learners and optimize for a range of metrics -- including learner satisfaction, progression, retention, completion, and learning outcomes -- and ultimately distill these into actionable insights to guide partners in their course design and production. We continuously drive and improve online pedagogy through research, feedback, and on-platform experimentation.
The Principal Learning Design Consultantis a full-time, US-based remote position responsible for designing pedagogical frameworks for Coursera's Short-Form Content (learning experiences ranging from 30 minutes to 3 hours) and Long-Form Content (learning experiences ranging from 3 hours to 150 hours). You will work closely with Coursera's Industry Partner subject matter experts, content production design teams, and internal stakeholders who inform Coursera's catalog of content. You will enable Coursera's content engine by creating learning architecture and curriculum design frameworks that stack Short-Form Content into Long-Form Content (and vice versa), drive continuous improvement in content creation, develop maintenance and content refresh strategies for evergreen products, incorporate Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into design and production strategies, and evangelize best practices. You will also need to rapidly learn about new technologies and job roles within GenAI and Large Language Model-adjacent fields in order to meet the growing needs of our partners, learners, and product requirements. You will advocate for our learners and instructional quality while balancing production time, budget, and scalability in course design.

Compensation
Coursera offers competitive pay and equitable compensation practices. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The targeted hiring base salary range for this role is between $140,000 and $170,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experiences, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, and geographical location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for variable pay, equity, and benefits.
