Courier Newsroom, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Client Sponsorship Director

Client Sponsorships Director

Annual salary of $115K - $125K and includes a commission structure that would be included in a total compensation package

COURIER is seeking a Client Sponsorship Director who will be responsible for the development and execution of COURIER’s sponsorship revenue portfolio, with an emphasis on building advertising partnerships across our multiple platforms. 

This position is an external-facing role and will be responsible for building and scaling sponsorship revenue, playing a critical role in executing COURIER’s annual and strategic revenue goals. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional who brings keen insight, innovation, and best-in-class practices looking to make an impact in a new kind of media company to positively impact civic participation and build a healthier democracy from the ground up.

This role will partner collaboratively with senior leadership, including high exposure with the CEO and senior members of the Revenue team. The Client Sponsorship Director will report to the Chief of Staff to the CEO. The salesperson would own the rate card/pricing, working closely with the Chief of Staff, on special packages and discounts. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own and manage key relationships with existing and future sponsorship and advertising partners.
  • Create and advance comprehensive strategy for COURIER building a robust sponsorship strategy and pipeline for mission-aligned organizations and corporations, in close collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for client solutions and success, engaging with partners from the first point of contact.
  • Develop pitch materials, monitor budgets, and execute all other administrative details in relation to partners and sponsors, including but not limited to creating and executing contracts, vendor forms, invoices, etc. with assistance from an ads-operations associate.
  • Collaborate with clients to plan effective advertising campaigns, including target audience, selecting appropriate ad formats and placements, and setting campaign objectives.
  • Development and creation of presale collateral and sponsorship presentations, collaborating with leadership on rate cards and pricing.
  • Work with clients and internal teams (such as editorial, designers, etc.) to ensure that the ad content is created and delivered on time, aligns with the client's brand, and adheres to the platform's standards.
  • Monitor the performance of advertising campaigns, analyze key metrics, and provide clients with regular reports and insights.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of client partnerships, including invoicing, payment collection, and addressing any billing issues.
  • Collect feedback from clients to understand their satisfaction with the service and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as editorial, data and tech, product, and design teams, to ensure a cohesive approach to client partnerships and advertising campaigns.
  • Ensure that all advertising practices comply with legal and ethical standards, and are in line with industry best practices.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 5 years of experience in a sales or business development role and demonstrable comfort with client-facing engagements.
  • A desire to build and nurture healthy internal and external relationships
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills and desire to be a team player
  • Comfortability with an outbound sales strategy, inbound lead cultivation, and advancement of business development best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly related to campaign pacing and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proactive and goal-oriented with a strong willingness to learn and constantly improve
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • In-depth knowledge of digital media and online marketing technology
  • Proficiency with and knowledge of ad platforms such as Sailthru, Meta Business Suite, TikTok, etc.
