Growth Marketing at Coupang is responsible for driving growth across business verticals by 1) customeracquisition (activations & reactivations) 2) Increasing wallet share – encourage customers to discover newcategories and buy more products more often. We build various innovative Marketing platforms andservices, some first of it’s kind in Korean e-commerce industry, to advertise Coupang products at scale. We
leverage cloud computing, big data & streaming technologies, analytics and machine learning to enablecustomer centric data-driven decisions.
Various platforms and services led by Growth Engineering team include:

1. Coupang Partners – Coupang has a self-serve affiliate platform to support Bloggers, Web & App Publishers and other influencers to discover products at Coupang, create marketing assets,advertise on their site/app, track traffic and conversion and receive commission. We continue to grow this channel with various new innovations.

2. CRM – Customer relationship management platform, an end-end solution to influence Customer behavior, one at a time, with targeted and personalized promotions.

3. Audience Platform – Customer 360 & Customer targeting platform that helps various teams across Coupang with customer segmentation and targeting capabilities.

4. Push Marketing – Coupang Push Marketing platform sends millions of targeted and personalized app push messages in an hour, helping drive Customer engagement and category/product discovery. 

5. Search Advertising – Coupang has built a native Search Advertising platform that can generate keywords and optimize bids and landing pages at scale (10M keywords). We continue to findinnovative ways to add more high efficient keywords and enhance bidding algorithms with Machine Learning. This platform directly integrates with Search Engines like Naver, Daum & Google.

6. Display Advertising – Coupang’s SMART feed management system and Server-Server event management system supports both Display Advertising (targeting and re-targeting) and PCSchannels. Coupang collaborates and integrates with various DA partners, like Facebook & Criteo, and PCS partners (Naver & Daum) to advertise Coupang products. DA partners like Facebook andCriteo can also retarget customers based on their engagement and purchase behavior at Coupang.

7. Marketing Core Platform – Core platform and services that are leverages across Growth Marketing like marketing landing, tracking and attribution.

8. Marketing Landing Program – Customize and personalize a Customer’s landing experience when he/she clicks on a Coupang Ad. This program looks at optimizing 1) how to enable our Customers to discover the right products 2) help them seamlessly complete a purchase.

What You Will Do 

• Drive end-to-end Engineering and Machine learning methods that have a high degree of ambiguity, scale and complexity 
• Build machine learning models, perform proof-of-concept, experiment, optimize and deploy your models into production. 
• Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for data analysis, machine-learning model development, model validation and serving. 
• Present results and explain methods to the leadership. 
• Mentor junior engineers on the team and partner teams and help to uplevel ML talent across the company. 

 Basic Qualifications 

• 8 years working experience in the engineering teams that build large-scale ML-driven user-facing products
• Extensive knowledge in deep learning 
• Experience with state of the art ML modeling techniques and approaches like transformers, self supervised pre-training, generative modeling, LLMs, etc. 
• Hands-on experience training and applying models at scale.
• Proficient coding skills in Java, C or Python
• Masters or PhD in Comp Sci or related fields

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in working on, backend and ML systems for large-scale user-facing products, and have a good understanding of how they all work. 
• Experience in closely collaborating with other engineering teams to ship new ML technologies.
• The ideal candidate will possess the self-motivation, curiosity, creativity and initiative to achieve goals.
