The purpose of the class is to plan, direct and supervise the daily operations of the Solid Waste & Recycling Division, including residential and commercial garbage collection, recycling collection, refuse control and landfill operations; and to perform other administrative and supervisory work as required. This class plans, organizes and implements programs within major organizational policies, reporting program progress to executive-level administration through reports and conferences.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental or a closely related field. Possession of Professional Engineer (PE) registration in South Carolina is preferred.Must possess or have the ability to possess Certified Landfill Operator or Certified Landfill Manager certification within 12 months.Must possess a valid state driver’s license.Requires six years of management experience.
