Role Overview
Performs skilled computerized map drafting and related technical work in the preparation, review and maintenance of maps and geographic datasets of projects for County departments. Must be extremely detailed, organized, and responsive. This position will serve both interdepartmental needs and those of the public. Work is performed under the general direction and supervision of the Information Technology Director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General geographic and planning knowledge; demonstrated ability to use GIS and tools effectively, specifically ArcGIS Pro 3.1.2, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop 10.8.2, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Trimble TerraFlex; proficiency with databases, word processing, and spreadsheet software; skill in interpreting surveyed plats, cadastral, topographic, transportation, and zoning maps, as well as aerial photo interpretation skills; ability to respond to mapping needs of the public, interested parties, staff, and requesting agencies; ability to perform precise and accurate work; ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions; ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, elected officials, the public, and members of the professional community.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field and 3-5 years of experience with GIS software; or Associate’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field and 2-5 years of experience with GIS software. Other equivalent education and work experience may be considered in meeting the minimum education and experience requirements.
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a state and local criminal history check. Possession of appropriate driver's license
