County of Kent is Hiring a Judicial Clerk Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform clerical duties both in the courtroom as well as outside the courtroom. This individual will provide skilled and complex legal clerical duties in support of and under the direction of Circuit Court Judges. Duties include scheduling; correspondence and document preparation; assisting with a variety of court-related issues by telephone or in person; and use of a computerized case management and video recording system. Individual will be responsible for performing miscellaneous duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent combined with post-secondary training in legal or court procedures or two years Para-professional experience in a legal environment.

Must possess thorough working knowledge of office protocols and procedures including preparation and maintenance of legal documents and reports; minimum typing skills of 50 wpm; and thorough working knowledge of computer applications including word processing and email applications.

A typing assessment demonstrating the ability to type 50wpm or higher is required in order to be considered for this position. Please monitor your email for further instructions after your application has been submitted and the posting has closed.

Probation Period

Shift Differential
$0.50 per hour for regularly scheduled shifts beginning at 2:00 PM or later

Weekend Differential
$0.50 per hour for regularly scheduled shifts beginning at 11:00 PM Friday and ending at 7:00 AM Monday

Overtime
1 1/2 times regular straight-time rate for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week

Call Back Pay
Guaranteed 2 hours paid at time and a half

Merit Increases

$315 per credit hour; maximum of 9 credit hours per year (see policy for eligibility)
