County of Kent is Hiring a Clerk II Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Responsibilities

The Community Action Division provides emergency assistance to Kent County residents. Our direct services include food security, utility assistance, eviction and foreclosure prevention, housing vouchers, self-sufficiency, transportation, and information & referral services. We also provided resources in the development & retention of affordable housing, public infrastructure, non-profit support, weatherization services and home repair services.
The successful candidate will join a group of dedicated staff working to improve the quality of life for Kent County residents by providing services, resources, education and advocacy to people in need.

Duties of this position include: providing general office support; covering the front desk; assisting in collection of information for reports; performing financial and/or program related recordkeeping; assisting leadership in preparations for meetings; answering and making outgoing phone calls, greeting clients, offering information or referrals, and checking clients in for appointments; ordering office/program supplies and coding invoices.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have strong customer service skills, as well as excellent computer skills including experience with database entry and Excel spreadsheets. High school graduate or equivalent combined with a minimum of one year of successful clerical experience.
Spanish speaking ability, a willingness to participate in food distribution drives and the ability to lift 50 pounds are all strongly preferred.
