Food Preparer Position – Country Village Meats

Job Description
The Food Preparer position at Country Village Meats will wait on customers at our deli, and full-service seafood/meat counters. Also, prepare, package, and label meat for retail sale and customer specific orders. The successful applicant will have a love of all things meat and be motivated to serve our customers with the highest quality products and services.

Responsibilities include

• Deliver superior customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Stock, cut, wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat/seafood.
• Wait on customers at deli and full-service seafood/meat counters.
• Ensure the selling floor is adequately stocked, neat, and accurately priced.
• Maintain appropriate stock rotation.
• Maintain required production logs and temperature logs.
• Perform daily and weekly cleaning duties on various equipment, workstations, tools, restrooms, retail shopping area, parking lot, offices, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills

• We are looking for a Food Preparer with foodservice or retail experience ideally from the food industry.

Must have people skills, basic computer skills.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions, company policies and procedures.
• Ability to work with retail math concepts such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages.

Job Type: Part-time, starting wage $14.00 – $16.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Work Environment

• Must have the physical ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, climb, balance, and stoop to grasp objects, frequently push and pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift loads up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to enter coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to and withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods of time.
• Work with knives, slicers, and other meat preparation equipment.
• Must have a reliable source of transportation.

As an artisan butcher shop, we are committed to maintaining the quality of our craft and delivering superior products and service to our customers. Country Village Meats has operated since
1955 in the original store location in Sublette, Illinois. Our Geneva, Illinois location is the newest addition to the company, opened in April 2022.

Being a small family-owned business, the work-life balance for our employees is a higher priority than in the corporate grocery world. That is why our shop has more traditional butcher shop business hours of
Monday-Friday 10:00am to 6:30pm and Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Closed on Sundays. The company owners are in the shop on a regular basis helping with all tasks, as needed. No one in the company is

above doing tasks needed to run a successful shop. Every employee is valued, treated fairly, and rewarded for their hard work and contributions.
