We are looking for a dynamic Professional Liability Product Manager to join our growing team. This role is crucial in assisting with the development, management, and enhancement of our professional liability insurance products. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of professional liability and general insurance solutions, and bring technological savvy, and a passion for innovation to help shape the future of professional liability coverage in a digital-first marketplace.

You will report to our Director of Insurance Products and work closely with the underwriting, operations, data, and engineering teams, along with our partners, clients, and other key stakeholders. 

YOU WILL:

  • Design and develop new professional liability insurance products and enhance existing ones to meet the evolving needs of the market. 
  • Identify and report on market research, analysis of competitor products, and identifying trends and gaps in coverage.
  • Provide support to underwriting teams by developing underwriting guidelines and pricing models. 
  • Partner with the marketing and sales teams to develop effective strategies and materials for product promotion.
  • Participate in or lead projects related to product development, system enhancements, or operational efficiencies, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Report on industry trends, legal developments, and emerging risks that may impact professional liability products.
  • Manage specific policy forms and unique amendatory endorsement requests for our key trading partners.
  • Responsible for production and loss of professional liability by offering a competitive and profitable product. 
  • Assist with the launch of new insurance products in collaboration with the insurance, special projects, data and actuarial teams.
  • Roll up your sleeves with the underwriting team as necessary to hit our ambitious growth goals.

YOU HAVE

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a specific focus on professional liability products.
  • Proven track record in product development or product counsel within the professional liability space.
  • Experience with market research, competitor analysis, and customer needs assessment.
  • Proactive, creative problem-solver with a startup mentality, ready to tackle challenges and seize opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Impeccable organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills, including the ability to work with a diverse team and drive change across functional and business boundaries.
  • A passion for technology and innovation, with a keen interest in the insurtech space.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

  • Claudette Kellner, Director Insurance Products:
    Claudette has over 25 years of experience in the specialty insurance market, where she has demonstrated expertise in underwriting, product innovation, and strategic leadership. Her career, marked by significant achievements and increasing responsibility most recently as Vice President at Berkley Management Protection, leading the company's management liability product and underwriting strategy, and prior to that successfully managing a large D&O and Healthcare portfolio as Public D&O Product Leader with CNA. Majority of her career was with Chubb Insurance as a leader of a national Healthcare practice, where she developed and executed forward-looking underwriting strategies that significantly contributed to the industry’s advancement.
  • Tiffany Park, Insurance Product Manager: Prior to joining Counterpart, Tiffany has spent her professional career in various technical underwriting roles at AIG and Hiscox. During this time, she cultivated a passion for leveraging data and technology to make insurance more equitable and accessible for small businesses.
  • Mike Levins, Head of Insurance: Mike previously was the Head of Broker Relations and US MGA Operations at Hiscox. Mike oversaw the Midwest region with ~20 underwriters offering 13 different product lines, the primary lines being management liability, professional liability, and cyber/technology. His extensive insurance career has afforded Mike strong relationships across hundreds of retail and wholesale brokers. Mike received his BS from Marquette University and MBA from Benedictine University.
  • Chris Shafer, Chief of Staff: Chris is a published scientific author, having studied the neural correlates of gratitude at the lauded Brain and Creativity Institute. He has since helped to launch numerous businesses in which he held a variety of critical roles from product management to business operations to strategic partnerships. Chris received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California.
