Customer Service and Sales Associate - Fenton, Missouri

Description:

A Customer Service and Sales Associate is responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service as per Company standards, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets. This position provides customer service to customers in store, via telephone, email, chat, messenger and more. Depending on hours worked, Customer Service and Sales Associate will assist the manager in the opening and/or closing cash registers.

STARTING RATE OF PAY: Varies

GENERAL DUTIES:

• Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service
• Handles customer questions, concerns, and billing inquiries with the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism to resolve customer issues
• Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise and monitoring floor stock
• Aid customers in locating merchandise as well as making recommendations according to customers' needs
• Demonstrates proficiency in typing, spelling and grammar
• Required to work on multiples queues
• Communicate customer requests to management
• Assist in completing price changes within the department
• Participate in year-end inventory and cycle counts
• Participate in on-going team building and sales training activities
• Assist in ringing up sales at registers and/or bagging merchandise
• Responsible for improving customer retention through excellent customer service
• Any and all other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Energetic
• Physical ability to perform all functions as set forth above
• Physical ability to move, lift and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store
• Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
• Ability to communicate with associates and customers
• Excellent communication skills, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking in front of a group
• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
• Ability to lift 30 pounds
• Basic typing and mathematical skills
• Well-mannered and clearly spoken
• Comfortable around parents and small children
• Works independently and executes directions given by management
• The ability to work under pressure, meet demanding deadlines, and handle stress appropriately

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of customer service work experience
• One year of experience in a sales-driven position
• Knowledge of natural parenting and related products
• Familiar with forums, Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools
• Familiarity with Shopify Point of Sale
• Previous retail experience
• Knowledge of or keen interest in learning about product base including but not limited to: cloth diapers, babywearing gear, baby travel gear, parenting tools, children's clothing, etc.

Tests:
Applicants will be expected to pass any assessments associated with the position.

Training:
Paid on-the-job training

Availability:
Tuesdays, Saturdays and as needed.
