Position Summary

The Paint Lead drives sales, service, and productivity. Works with commercial and residential customers, does color consultation, while maintaining the paint department standards. Exceeding sales quota’s by working directly with outside sales associates, utilizing vendor support, and providing outstanding service for all walk-in traffic during all hours of operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving sales, service and quotas on all KPI’s.
• Supports the stores paint department including but not limited to the inventory and in stock, equipment maintenance, merchandising and upkeep of all display’s, cleanliness and organization of the paint department and sundry aisles as well as other aisles assigned
• Assist customers over the phone and in the store to help determine appropriate paint/tint recommendations based on customer projects and specifications.
• Requires constant use of tinting and paint mixing equipment.
• Offer color matching expertise and paint product selection advice.
• Keep your area of responsibility neat, clean, stocked and priced properly.
• Clean and perform maintenance on store equipment daily and when needed.
• Resolves customer complaints
• Handle customer inquiries from both consumer and commercial customers.
• Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management.
• Drive Sales in all sales channels including but not limited to DIY, Business-to-business, acehardware.com, non-retail income, services, and other key categories.
• Assists in the training, development, and performance of their team’s staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce that achieves their goals.
• Provides product feedback to the management, including making recommendations regarding new items to carry or those that should be discontinued.
• Consults with leadership on the development of their team's strategy.
• Ensures a safe environment for employees, customers, and vendors by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining store equipment in proper working order.
• Takes inventory counts according to guidelines and assists management with maintaining proper stock levels through appropriate product ordering and CGO-S parameter maintenance.
• Ensures proper store signage is always maintained.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Functions

• Use the E.C.E.T. (Every Customer, Every Time) process with EVERY customer interaction.
• Greet every customer you make eye contact with, anywhere in the store.
• Answer customers’ questions and provide information on procedures and policies.
• Be at your workstation on time and “customer ready” whenever you are on the stage/sales floor.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Recommend related items when appropriate and execute S.A.L.E.S. process.
• Assist in the training and development of peers.
• Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards.
• Offer a carry-out if appropriate.
• Know the proper way to answer the telephone.
• Be alert for possible merchandise losses. Protect all company assets and report any missing or damaged merchandise to your supervisor.
• Address all safety concerns immediately.
• Advise store management of any pricing errors.
• Perform other tasks as asked by store management

Job Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older due to use of machinery
• 1 year of paint store experience required
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Excellent organization skills
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be willing to work in a team, as well as independently
• Sense of urgency and follow through are essential
• Must be able to distinguish between colors and types of paint
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Must have reliable transportation

• Carrying: Frequent- Up to 50 lbs., up to 50 feet, occasionally more
• Climbing: In-frequent- Stairs in storage rooms, ladders, consumers homes
• Vision: Constant- Read labels, recognize boxes, safety in working and operating motor vehicle
• Hearing: Constant- Safety signals
