Position Overview: The Woodworking Shop Manager is a key role in our construction company, blending hands-on craftsmanship with comprehensive shop management. This position is responsible for overseeing woodworking activities, managing tool and equipment inventory, operating a CNC router, conducting and scheduling maintenance and repairs, and ensuring efficient operation of the shop.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Woodworking and Project Execution:

   • Design, plan, and execute diverse woodworking projects, ensuring quality and specification compliance.
   • Proficiently operate woodworking machinery and hand tools, including saws, planers, joiners, and routers.

2. CNC Router Operation and Maintenance:

   • Operate and maintain a CNC router, including programming for project requirements.
   • Ensure precision in wood component fabrication.

3. Tool and Equipment Management:

   • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of tools and equipment.
   • Implement an effective system for checking tools and equipment in and out.
   • Perform regular inspections and coordinate repair or maintenance of tools and equipment.

4. Shop Management and Safety:

   • Oversee shop operations, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety.
   • Enforce safety protocols and train staff on equipment operation and woodworking safety.

5. Vehicle Maintenance Tracking:

   • Monitor and track maintenance schedules for company vehicles used in shop activities.
   • Coordinate necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime.

6. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

   • Lead and mentor shop staff, promoting skill development and teamwork.
   • Collaborate with other departments for project alignment and resource management.

Qualifications:

• Solid experience in woodworking with a strong project portfolio.
• Skill in operating and maintaining a CNC router and other woodworking tools.
• Familiarity with woodworking techniques, materials, and safety standards.
• Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects and inventory.
• Leadership and communication skills.
• Blueprint and design plan interpretation ability.

Education:

• None required. A passion for Woodworking is a plus.

Experience:

• Idea Candidate would have at least 3 years in a woodworking environment, including 1 year in a supervisory role.
• We would consider a hobbiest that has extensive experience with woodworking equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.

Work Environment:

• Primarily based in the woodworking shop with occasional site visits.
