P & M Steel Company is a custom steel fabricator with over 50 years in the Sioux Falls area seeking a Shop Supervisor to join our team. The Shop Supervisor directs the machine operators, yard operators, painters, rebar fabricators and truck drivers to ensure products are produced and delivered to P & M Steel’s standards under the supervision and direction of the Production Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Trains new team members on P & M Steel operating standards and safety procedures.
• Creates work schedule for team in coordination with Production Manager.
• Coordinates with machine operators to ensure assemblies are completed for fabrication.

• Recommends to Production Manager any capital expenditures in order for the shop to operate at peak efficient.

• Works with operators to uphold preventative maintenance programs on all equipment.
• Supervises maintenance and facilitate repairs of the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition as regulated by safety standards.
• Oversees reporting of time tracking to ensure accurate and timely project costs.
• Schedules all deliveries to customers, and relays needed information to the truck drivers to ensure customer expectations are met.
• Coordinates and confirms with Project Manager and Operations Manager shipping requirements and schedules for fabricated materials.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance from Production Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing related experience, preferred.
• At least 5 years’ experience as a supervisor, preferred
• Background in welding, preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, required.
• Attention to Detail

Education

• High School diploma or Equivalent, required.
