We currently have an opening for Assembly Technician at our Houston, TX location. The Assembly Technician is key position that is recognized as a critical function for business success. The ideal candidate for this position will have proven ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, assemble and test electromechanical systems, troubleshoot functionality, and assure complete customer satisfaction, insuring maximum company growth and profitability. The Assembly Technician is responsible for performing mechanical and/or electromechanical processes to assemble and test quality analytical instruments (components, sensors, instruments and/or systems). Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare, assemble, test, and/or inspect product at various stages of assembly from component level to final product.
Work from blueprints, drawings, method sheets, diagrams or other specifications in accordance with established assembly procedures and standard work instructions.
Set up, operate and maintain production equipment, machinery and tools using process documents, diagrams, and written instructions in support of production goals. Set-up and adjust equipment to hold tolerances to blueprint specification.
Ensure Quality Assurance and testing of assemblies and final systems.
Collect and document data from production processes requiring basic mathematical and statistical knowledge.
Package and document assembled materials.
Expected to participate in continuous improvement and Lean/5S processes.
Interaction with company ERP system
Applies equal amounts of skills and dedication to all other duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifying Attributes & Skills
Associates degree in an engineering/ technician discipline preferred.
Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in mechanical assembly. 5 years preferred.
Excellent manual dexterity a must.
Ability to use electrical test equipment, including oscilloscope, digital voltmeter, etc.
Must have excellent attention to detail.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing practices (5S, Kaizen, etc.) preferred.
High level understanding of design engineering requirements in order to properly assemble components and products a plus.
Ability to read and interpret engineering prints, assembly drawings, and BOM's.
Understand the engineering and quality management system processes to ensure compliance to ISO and other external regulations during assembly.
Professionalism, with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment under tight deadlines.
Strong problem solving and time management skills
Ability to work autonomously with little or no direction; self-managed.
