How You'll Contribute to the Team:

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the management of assigned construction projects to ensure timely and quality products are completed on schedule and within budget, while managing construction staff and subcontractor activities on the project. Other key areas of responsibility include plan reviews, value engineering, and preparation of scope of work, contract review, buyout, and production through management of field staff and interaction with all employees and departments within the company.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure the delivery of high quality new or renovated homes as well as ancillary facilities as scheduled and on budget.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to work orders associated with new and renovated homes as well as ancillary facilities.
  • Possess a good understanding of internal customers, their responsibilities and needs as they pertain to customer service.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the pre-construction process and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Function as part of the construction management team to implement the company’s mission in order to achieve maximum resident satisfaction.
  • Provide leadership and meet regularly with team to ensure that field superintendents have the most up to date plans, specs, selections and standards so as to have every tool available for completing quality and on time products.
  • Coordinate regularly with all stakeholders to promote operational consistency and trouble shoot potential problems.
  • Provide input and recommendations on product scope, specifications, cost implications beginning with the conceptual phase of the project through home delivery.
  • Review cost-to-date and delivery schedules with the local construction team on a weekly basis. Adjust operations as needed to ensure budgetary and schedule compliance.
  • Inform the Project Manager and superintendents of all subcontractor/vendor issues, anticipated changes to delivery, safety and quality control issues as well as recommended courses of action on a daily basis.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager is responsible for all parts of the project that relate to construction including, but not limited to, scheduling, phasing and estimating.
  • Possess a solid working knowledge of architectural design, structural engineering, MEP and the local building codes as they relate to single family and multi-family work to ensure buildings are constructed and renovated in compliance with all applicable project requirements, standards and Military regulations.
  • Develop and maintain specifications and scopes, schedules and cost control measures on all phases of construction.
  • Support and coordinate with the entire team to foster a good working environment and high team morale. Instill company values in the team through education and example. Support opportunities for people to excel and prove their value and loyalty.
  • Work with counterparts at other installations to provide clear “lessons learned” data, resolution methods, value engineering and product improvement, and the movement of competent subcontractors and suppliers through the organization.
  • Assist in coordination efforts between departments, as directed by the Director of Construction (DOC) to ensure objectives set forth by Corvias Leadership are achieved.
  • Assist the Project Manager in leading the budget preparation and oversee construction staff to ensure budget compliance, proper and timely flow of vendor/contractor invoicing, cost controls and value engineering.
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, oversee the pre-construction negotiations and buyout of all labor and material to perform job.
  • Assist with oversight of the development and maintenance of production schedules and staff for each project or phase with Superintendent’s input from the field.
  • Oversee the development, creation and implementation of project schedules.
  • Ensure project superintendents are accurately updating field progress through project schedule.
  • Manage all day-to-day field operations, staff, vendors and suppliers required to meet production schedules.
  • Assist in identifying, monitoring, and obtaining all necessary permits
  • Promote a working environment that revolves around accountability and results. Mentor, lead and develop staff to ensure succession planning and continuity in the operation.
  • Support the Project Manager in organizational development, hire and train to ensure that Corvias culture and values are instilled within team members prior to assuming operations.
  • Meet as directed with each staff member to open and honestly discuss development and career goals, as well as, company expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Specific Requirements Include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field is preferred.
  • 7 years’ experience in construction is required; residential and multi-family experience required, and site development experience a plus. Proven success in field operations management, pre-construction management, cost controls and office operations necessary.
  • Working knowledge of construction estimating and estimating software (Timberline a plus), cost controls, scheduling (Primavera or Microsoft Project a plus), and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Dedicated, able to work in a team environment and willingness to put the needs of his/her customers before all else.
  • General knowledge of National, State and Local building codes is required. Quality control, Green Building, OSHA standards, ADA and LEED knowledge expected.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • This position may be required to support other locations and/or business lines. The ability and availability of construction staff to travel as frequently as expected by management and to meet management expectations to relocate for short, long, or indefinite time periods is essential functions of this job
