Qualifications:
This individual will conduct routine testing along with complex research laboratory activities to support our fundamental understanding of coatings technology in support of Client growth initiatives. The role of Technician will report into the Building Products Innovation lab manager.
Prefer 2-year experience in an industrial setting.
Experience in research and development lab is preferred
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines
Comfortable working with hazardous materials
Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Effective problem solver.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Responsibilities:
Conduct experiments independently and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data
Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory, collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
Identify and suggest improvements in methods
Document findings and communicate results using programs such as Word and Excel
Inspects and performs routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location
Assist with development and documenting Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory assets and processes
Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations including sealer, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various coating application equipment, including manual and automated processes.
Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis.
