CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL is Hiring a Secondary Bible Teacher Near San Antonio, TX

Job Summary:

To teach curriculum as per content area curriculum guide, and foster student growth academically, spiritually, and socially.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Teach all assigned classes according to the curriculum guide for the content area(s) utilizing instructional aides, methods, and materials, incorporating additional activities such as field trips, guest lecturers, and the use of media, and integrating the Word of God into every area of the curriculum so that a creative and effective teaching environment is established, which will facilitate the academic and spiritual growth of the students.
  • Prepare for all assigned classes, to include academic preparation and biblical integration, and develop and submit weekly lesson plans, which reflect the daily activities, materials, and methods of evaluation, including homework assignments, class discussions and participation, quizzes, tests, projects, papers, etc.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled general faculty and departmental meetings, faculty devotions, in-services, Parent/Teacher Fellowship meetings, and other school functions which are related to the teacher’s own area of responsibility. Teachers are encouraged to attend other functions not listed above, to show school spirit and support, and to foster unity within the body of Christ. Maintain discipline within the classroom and on the school premises and submit written discipline reports, and dress code violations to maintain consistency and an environment of order and respect for authority. Issue and keep record of student textbook assignments and report missing texts to the secondary office. Teachers must also track the condition of books, submit requests for replacements as needed, and participate in the textbook adoption process according to the established cycle of textbook replacement. Participate in professional development opportunities and ongoing education, which will enhance the teacher's educational skills, and add to the teachers' ability to effectively integrate biblical principles into the curriculum.
  • Maintain records of student attendance and achievement and submit grades as requested for progress reports, quarter, and semester reports cards, and as needed for parent/teacher conferences or any meeting which may address student performance.
  • Maintain spiritual sensitivity by daily seeking God's wisdom and guidance, remaining in constant prayer for staff, students, and parents, and maintaining a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and the reading and study of the Word of God. In this way the teacher will be effective in the integration of scripture, and in ministering to the needs of their students.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks assigned by immediate Supervisor, Department Head, Executive Pastor, and Senior Pastor.

Education/Requirements:

  • Teachers must have a 4-year degree with a major or minor in their teaching field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be able to speak and write proficiently in English and Spanish.
  • State teaching certification preferred but not required. (Texas State Teaching Certification)
  • All teachers must apply to and complete teacher certification through ACSI. Teachers are required to complete training in the biblical philosophy of education, formal Bible instruction, and appropriate training in instructional methodology, as determined and prescribed by ACSI.
  • All teachers must submit a statement of faith and commitment to Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operation, and application software preferred.
  • Any knowledge, skills, or abilities which are salient to the effective instruction of the subject(s).
  • Coursework in methods of instruction, and Bible preferred.
