Secondary (HS) 9th grade Biology Teacher (2023-24 SY)

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree Required or State Teaching Certification.

Experience: Classroom teaching experience preferred. Aligned or relevant coursework that indicates experience or exposure to Biology.

Knowledge of:

Ability to:

  • Basic knowledge of curricula and instructional practices or implementation. 
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.? 
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.
  • Ability to pass a grade level aligned content assessment.

Responsibilities

  • SA Prep teachers love first, provide concern and care before teaching.
  • SA Prep teachers have and hold high expectations for love and learning.
  • SA Prep teachers implement state learning standards and SA PREP curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
  • SA Prep teachers learn, master, and deliver content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts in a way that makes sense to different learners.
  • SA Prep teachers submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback?.
  • SA Prep teachers implement formal and informal assessments to track each individual student’s progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly.?
  • SA Prep teachers communicate students’ progress with students and family on a weekly basis.
  • SA Prep teachers implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide restorative practices/trauma informed care practices while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroom.?
  • SA Prep teachers help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters love of personal identity and the identity of those around us.
  • SA Prep teachers establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with their partner teacher, students and families based on trust, understanding and respect?for the communities in which they identify.??
  • SA Prep teachers host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.?
  • SA Prep teachers participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and monthly Community Events.
  • SA Prep teachers engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development.
  • SA Prep teachers accept a minimum of 40 hours spent at school per week.
  • SA Prep teachers additional responsibilities may include: after-school tutoring or Saturday school and are based on the needs of our students
