The Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Manager is responsible for reviewing, developing, managing, auditing, and ensuring compliance with the QHSE standards, policies, and systems. The QHSE Manager will be responsible for improving and maintaining the current ISO 9001 system and internal audit program and ensuring that operational activities are carried out in accordance with quality requirements as per the ISO 9001 standard. The role requires active participation at all levels, from strategy through to implementation as well as actively influencing and motivating a variety of people to ensure commitment to the overall QHSE systems and a culture of excellence and compliance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the QHSE program for assigned locations in compliance with QHSE rules and regulations and in compliance with customer requirements. Work and support site HSE reps as required.
  • Control the day-to-day operations including inspections, audits, scheduling meetings, training and updating documents and records for all aspects of the QHSE and ISO 9001 systems.
  • Evaluate and analyze quality issues and assist with the implementation of corrective actions arising from both internal and external audits.
  • Support Operations and Technical Managers in ensuring QMS controlled documents are reviewed and in compliance with defined frequencies to avoid non-conformances.
  • Compiles and submits all pertinent QHSE reports required by regulatory agencies to Operational Managers and the Corporate Safety Director.
  • Liaise with all levels of staff and management to ensure continued QHSE integration into core operations. Lead company’s QHSE meetings and assist other locations / facilities / BU’s / departments as directed.
  • Monitor and ensure that all QHSE legislation is complied with and assist with ensuring a safe working environment for all team members within laboratory and warehouse environments.
  • Conduct Continuous Improvement processes to improve processes and procedures.
  • Maintain the non-conformance and corrective action system and monitor effectiveness of the QHSE Management system.
  • Maintains regular contact with customer and industry QHSE professionals to ensure that new developments / requirements are factored into organization’s QHSE protocols.
  • Conducts accident/injury investigations and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for organization’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Assist with providing information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Ensure that all pertinent QHSE notices are posted correctly and updated as necessary
  • Interacts with pertinent local, state, and country agencies.
  • Assist with the completion of Client bid documentation packages
  • Assist with fire drills and disaster planning.
  • Manage hazardous waste program. Responsible for completion and submission of hazardous waste manifests.

QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, extensive experience operating within a multi-disciplined and diverse service organization and developing and maintaining QHSE and ISO9001 systems is required.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s (4 year) degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

5 years’ prior experience in implementing and maintaining QHSE management systems.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Audit Training (Lead Auditor), HAZMAT certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated competence of ISO standards and practices and OSHA, DOL, EPA regulations.

  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong planning, organizational, teamwork and presentation skills

  • Executes all applicable regulations of local, state and federal authorities.
