Position Overview

We are searching for a Summer Associate to support the Student Housing Development Team in all aspects of a ground-up project including due diligence, zoning, legal oversight, budgeting, design, construction and project management. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and organized with strong critical thinking skills, interpersonal intelligence, and a passion for real estate. The position will be in-person in our Chicago office, and will report directly to the Associate Manager, Development, with oversight from the Managing Director. Specific duties will include:

What You Will Do

• Participate in concept design charettes and project visioning sessions
• Assist with the due diligence process
• Analyze local zoning codes to determine design parameters/requirements
• Collaborate with design team to brainstorm innovative ideas for new developments
• Participate in coordination with consultants and engineers
• Identify and minimize exposure to risk on various projects
• Prepare presentations to illustrate project strategy to various internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in updating internal project trackers, schedules and pursuit budgets
• Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
• Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation

Ideally, you'll have

• First-year graduate student with 1-2 years of relevant experience
• Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management focused degree/curriculum

You'll crush it if you have experience with

• A strong passion for real estate development
• Highly motivated, organized, and determined individual with an eagerness to learn
