Position Overview

As our Senior Property Accountant, you will be preparing and analyzing financial results of operational properties, including the preparation of the following: GAAP financial statements, , reporting workbooks to investors, general ledger review, and variance analysis . This position will also assist the manager with the coaching and oversight of our thirdparty accounting team.

What You Will Do

  • Review ledger detail, prepare/review adjusting journal entries and supporting schedules for GAAP-based financial statements on a monthly basis
  • Work closely with the community operations team to ensure they are receiving the information required to effectively manage the properties and that the monthly close and reporting calendar is being met
  • Research monthly variances from budget and assist operations with variance explanations
  • Assist community operations team and asset managers with annual budget preparation
  • Review sales & use tax calculations and ensure the filings are completed by the state deadlines
  • Prepare property financial statements and supporting schedules monthly, including monthly budget to actual variance analysis
  • Review utility accruals and other calculations prepared by the third-party accounting team
  • Prepare property acquisition and disposition journal entries; manage prorations (including post-close prorations)
  • Review and provide guidance on correcting GPR reports and rent rolls reconciled by the community operations team
  • Serve as property accounting representative to lead the onboarding of property acquisitions
  • Record and maintain retail ledger activity
  • Review bank reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the third-party accounting team
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed
  • Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation

Ideally, you'll have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4 years of relevant experience
  • Detail oriented and ability to problem solve, research, and multi-task
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP compliancy
  • Experience working in Accounting Software Programs
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
