Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven individual to join the Core Spaces Credit Investing team , this senior-level role will focus on loan origination, deal execution, and sourcing opportunities within the real estate sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, a proven track record in successfully executing and closing loans, and the ability to source quality investment opportunities. 

The Core Spaces Credit Investing team is focused on opportunistic commercial real estate credit investments targeting existing asset and construction loans (senior and subordinate debt/preferred equity) in US residential for-rent property types, primarily focused on Student Housing, Build-to-Rent (“BTR”) and Multi-Family. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to the growth and success of our credit investing platform.

What You Will Do

  • Source and analyze various real estate credit investment opportunities through all parts of the capital structure and across various residential property types (primarily student housing, Build-to-Rent (“BTR”) and Multi-Family) and markets.
  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and evaluate investment opportunities through detailed financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Preparation and presentation of investment committee memoranda and other internal/external presentation materials to leadership, investment committees and investors
  • Lead the structuring, legal negotiation and documentation of new investments - including term sheets, loan documentation, inter-creditor agreements, etc.
  • Effectively lead deal teams through comprehensive due diligence processes, including property valuations, market analysis, and legal documentation review, to mitigate risks and ensure sound underwriting decisions.
  • Manage and execute the loan closing process, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth transaction execution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and industry professionals to source credit investment opportunities and stay informed about market trends and lending practices.
  • Analyze market conditions and industry trends to identify potential credit investment opportunities aligned with our credit strategy and risk appetite.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the loan portfolio, conducting periodic reviews and assessments to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional development and growth.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary as needed

Ideally, you'll have

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years relevant work experience in real estate principal investing and/or commercial real estate finance, with a focus on loan execution and sourcing.
  • Proven track record in successfully executing complex real estate loan transactions, from origination to closing.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate underwriting principles, financial analysis, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and valuation techniques.
  • Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.

You'll crush it if you have experience with

  • Student Housing, Build-to-Rent (“BTR”) or Multi-Family
  • Deal sourcing and cultivating relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and industry professionals.
