Our organization is expanding and we are looking to hire an experienced Plant Controller located in Gaffney, SC.Excellent salary, bonus, benefits, relocation, matching 401K and stock purchase program.

Summary/Objective

The plant controller functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to manage and control the local business effectively. Accountable for plant-level responsibilities, including general accounting, payables approval (including PO approvals), cost accounting, bill of materials, capital expenditures, customer chargeback analysis, budget and forecasting, business analysis, financial reporting, and plant business systems. Will also liaison with corporate finance and IT staff, as required.

BUDGETING & FORECASTING

  • Weekly, monthly, and annual reporting pertaining to costing, forecasts, and operations.
  • Be an active leader and participant in cost improvement projects, including tracking of target savings.
  • Participate in new business quote reviews. Provide financial analysis to determine the pricing of the project.

ACCOUNTING & REPORTING

  • Analyze and accurately report the current month's financial results to the plant and corporate management following corporate format and time requirements.
  • General accounting, AP submission to corporate office, cost accounting, etc.
  • Reconcile all inter-company accounts monthly.
  • Reconcile accounts for the plant every month and complete the month-end closure process.
  • Daily consolidation and reporting of performance metrics.

PURCHASING & INVENTORY

  • Responsible for approvals of all material purchases
  • Leader of physical inventory processing and reporting, including investigating variances.
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory and reconcile this to production, shipping, and returns.
  • Lead the physical (wall-to-wall) inventory process.
  • Work with plant operations team to ensure accurate perpetual inventories are maintained.
  • Analyze potential excess and obsolete inventory items.

COMPLIANCE

  • Adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Policies (GAAP).
  • Oversight of internal controls for local plant operations, ensuring adequate safeguarding of assets and reporting accuracy.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Perform walkthroughs of the plant with the Plant Director, as needed, to discuss production and cost issues.
  • Review labor reporting and costs, material costs, manufacturing overhead, distribution cost, returns, and inventory levels.
  • Conduct formal meetings with manufacturing, finance, and sales management personnel, both at the plant or with corporate, to discuss plant issues, as needed.
  • Evaluate capital expenditure projects, including appropriate need and cost along with return on investment analysis where necessary.
  • Champion and train plant staff on business systems, including ERP/MRP and reporting conventions.
  • Serve as the on-site business systems expert.
  • Audit bills of materials to ensure accurate production costs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate input of bill of material and price code changes.
  • Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect the operations of production.
  • Calculate and set standard rates for purchased and manufacturing materials
