Dynamite, fast-growth real estate accounting opportunity exists for a rising star who would like to join a renowned, leading retail commercial real estate companies in the DC region.
The Portfolio Controller will partner with VP and CFO and be responsible for helping drive excellence within property management accounting team. He/she will oversee 2-3 staff members and ensure full general ledger accounting procedures and policies are adhered to for an assigned portfolio of mixed-use commercial real estate properties.
Position Breakdown:
- Oversee daily GL operations, accounting processes and related activities
- Assist with monthly/quarterly account transaction closings and cut-off dates
- Analyze financial statements, including current monthly, quarterly and year-to-date variances
- Review journal entries and bank reconciliations (prepared by Staff)
- Review of monthly financial packages for owners and lender compliance
- Review and publish timely financial statements for quality presentation
- Review balance sheet supporting schedules including capital improvements, straight line rents, and depreciation as required
- Supervise a team of 2-3 staff
- Review/Prepare cash flow projections as required per asset/portfolio
- Review lender draw packages prepared by Staff/Senior Accountants for submission in compliance with loan requirements
- Review annual budgets for compliance to management agreement and monthly reporting
- Review year-end audit and tax packages as required
- Approve invoices in AP Software for submission for payment, batch invoices for check processing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting of Finance required
- CPA or CPA path preferred
- Property accounting experience required
- Two (2) or more years of staff management experience
- MRI, Yardi and Nexus systems are helpful/preferred
- Advanced MS Excel skills required
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding deadlines
- Be detail-oriented and possess critical thinking skills
- Excellent organization, communication, written, and presentational skills
- Must be able to work well with all levels of management and clients

- $130,000 - $145,000 base salary
- Annual 7-13% target bonus (competitive and paid out twice during calendar year)
