Responsibilities:
- Manage grant accounting activities: Track and monitor the financial transactions related to grant funding, including budgeting, invoicing, and expense tracking.
- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant guidelines, regulations, and reporting requirements. Maintain a thorough understanding of grant terms and conditions.
- Financial reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal management and external funders. This includes preparing grant-specific financial statements, budget variance analysis, and expenditure reports.
- Budget management: Collaborate with program managers to develop grant budgets, monitor spending, and provide guidance on budget revisions. Ensure that funds are utilized efficiently and in accordance with grant guidelines.
- Internal controls: Implement and maintain financial controls to safeguard grant funds, ensure accuracy of financial data, and prevent fraudulent activities.
- Audit support: Assist in the preparation and coordination of grant-related audits. Provide necessary documentation and support to auditors.
- Grant proposal support: Collaborate with program staff in the development of grant proposals, providing financial information, budget projections, and analysis as needed.
- Grant closeout: Facilitate the grant closeout process, ensuring all required financial reports and documentation are submitted in a timely manner.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in grant accounting, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Strong knowledge of grant compliance regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet applications. Experience with grant management systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with non-profit financial reporting standards (e.g., FASB, GAAP) is desirable.
