Cookbook Market Highland Park is seeking an experienced General Manager to join our team!The ideal candidate will have previous grocery or retail management experience!The General Manager position at COOKBOOK MARKET is expected to accomplish the following:● Create relationships with all guests and providing a welcoming environment through guestinteractions at the front door and via e-mail or phone correspondence.● Interview, hire, onboard new employees.● Ensure new employees are trained effectively.● Write hourly staff schedules, manage time off and handle coverage as needed.● Ensure hourly employees follow all break policies in effect at this location.● Oversee organization and maintenance of cleanliness and ensure shelves and display casesare stocked in the FOH space.● Understand and manage labor, OT and break penalties and costs in the market, includingreceiving product, entering. invoices, overseeing inventories and daily spending.● Review labor daily and run payroll for all hourly employees● Develop a good working knowledge of the financial aspects of the store.● Communicate all challenges that arise on a daily basis with appropriate supervisors andproblem solve together.● Ensure a hospitable experience for all guests and maintain high guest satisfaction.● Able to thoughtfully describe all store items and use this knowledge to provide suggestionsto guests.● Check out customers at the register, as needed, ensuring that all items have been rung inproperly and all items are packed for the customer.● Communicate effectively with other store managers and buyers.● Communicate with wine buyer regarding receiving, tag-making, sales, and pertinent wineinformation.● Understand high standards for food quality control to uphold Food SafetyStandards.● Create and maintain Sanitation and Cleaning standards following procedures and using properchecklists.● Respect the facility - picking up trash, cleaning up after yourself, taking the initiative toclean, letting appropriate supervisors know if anything is in disrepair.● Oversee and ensure all opening and closing checklists are done properly.● Work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment and work in a timely andefficient manner.● Maintain positive, team-oriented, respectful mentality.● Other duties as assigned.Qualifications:● To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily.
