Cook County Offices Under the President is Hiring a MULTIMEDIA SPECIALIST (OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFCER - COMMUNICATIONS)- ACTIVELY RECRUITED Near Chicago, IL

Under the direction of the Executive Producer in the Bureau of Administration, the Multimedia Specialist will work in collaboration with design and video team to create content for use in digital, print, and other formats for departments within Cook County Government. The Multimedia Specialist will work closely with the communications team in Offices Under the President in all aspects of television production to include camera operation, editing, research and development of content for a variety of channels. Assists with setup and the operation of all television equipment for studio, boardroom and field productions which includes broadcast cameras, audio mixers, lighting, video switchers and teleprompters. Independently develops concepts and creative direction for client departments under strict deadlines. The Multimedia Specialist will also interact with client departments to ensure project specification, brand standards and deadlines are met. Typical projects may include creation of collateral materials, infographics, social media graphics, lower third graphics, motion graphics, animation, editing of videos and more. Performs other duties as assigned. This position is Actively Recruited and At-Will.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Two (2) years’ full -time work experience in television/video production, journalism, television news, film, digital media, animation, graphic design, graphic arts, or motion graphics is required.
  • Experience utilizing Adobe Premier, After Effects, In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or equivalent software is required.
  • Must be able to provide valid driver's license is required.
  • Applicants must submit a digital portfolio is required.

Applicant MUST upload digital portfolio in order to be considered for this position. Failure to meet this condition will result in DISQUALIFICATION.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Animation, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Graphic Arts or Videography.
  • Experience utilizing traditional and digital design standards.
  • Experience in hand drawn and digital design.
  • Experience in video production and post-production.
  • Experience with script writing.
  • Experience with Avid Media Composer, Audition and Media Composer.
  • Video production experience using audio recording and video equipment in HD and 4K formats.
  • Experience in motion capture (compositing skills and chromakey) and 3D design.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

Proficient knowledge of video editing, animation techniques, motion graphics. High level of technical proficiency with a variety of digital cameras and studio equipment. Knowledge of graphic design, commercial art principles, practices, and techniques. Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with client departments. Working knowledge of workflow procedures and file management in postproduction team setting. Ability to effectively carry out oral and written instructions independently. Open to constructive criticism and critiques. Self-starter with can-do attitude who can pivot and be flexible in the moment in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Medium Work

Medium Work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
