ControlsEngineers work on a variety of projects delivering automation systems fordiverse industries. This position provides the opportunity to interact withclients to understand the automation requirements and transform them intoeffective control solutions. This is done using strong project executionmethodologies, established procedures and using good judgment in makingadaptations and modifications. This is a role that requires strongtechnical ability, communication skills, andestablish relationships with clients and vendors.
PrimaryResponsibilities:
This positionrequires the ability to deliver innovative automation solutions and designstandards either self-directed. The candidate musthave the ability to conceptualize, detail and implement control systems forindustrial processes and machinery that meet our customer’s requirements. Thisinvolves the development of a control system architecture, selecting thecomponents to be used, detailing schematic diagrams and system documentation,programming controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU), programming the process visualization(HMI/SCADA), developing databases for archiving/displaying historical systemdata and implementing/commissioning the control system at the client’sfacility. Knowledge of controller programming languages such as Ladder,Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text and others to achieve the desiredresults are strongly preferred. Also, having knowledge of standard programming languagessuch as VBA, .NET and SQL for the development of HMI/SCADA systems ispreferred.
For larger systems,experience with industrial networking used to connect control system componentsand instrumentation is preferred. The Controls Engineer would design, detailand implement a variety of fiber, wired and wireless systems using industrialprotocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
This position mayrequire the following project management responsibilities: developing projectexecution plans, work breakdown structures and associated budgets, taskprioritization and scheduling, time tracking and reporting,financial tracking and reporting, early problem identification, conflictmanagement/resolution, leading and supporting a team, and attending projectstatus meetings.Overseeing dailyoperations and activities of a project(s) while ensuring overall profitabilityof the project is also expected. The ideal candidatemust have a diverse engineering skill set with the ability to workindependently.
