Position Title: Mechanical Estimator Grade: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

Responsible for the design and costing associated with custom bulk material conveyance equipment. Utilize CSC’s procedures and structure to design equipment to customer requirements and estimate cost of components, raw material and labor for the equipment. Assist customer in the application of conveyance equipment to meet the requirements of projects. Provide guidance to drafters/detailers in the creation of general arrangement. Participate in development and implementation of process improvement programs, procedures and control of design standards.

Job Duties:

• Use industry standards and CSC guidelines to design, cost, and produce a formal quotation to meet customers’ requirements.
• Translate customer specifications and CSC design to drafters/detailers to create general arrangement drawings.
• Regularly work with Engineering Manager to select type of equipment and incorporate features that best meet the customer’s specifications and application requirements.
• Communicate regularly with suppliers and vendors of CSC to obtain component cost and delivery.
• Schedule and track all request for quotation to assure a timely turnaround of request for quotations.
• Communicate with customer or customer’s engineering firm to produce an equipment design specifically for the intended application.
• Collaborate with CSC Operations department to ensure design of equipment is consistent with CSC manufacturing capabilities and standards.
• Communicate with customer’s management and/or installation companies on issues of equipment operation, proper installation and maintenance, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information processed.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• Detail oriented and able to follow direction
• Ability to learn, understand, and consistently use CSC’s calculation programs and standard perimeters of equipment design.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings
• Must be a self-starter and have the ability to perform to a daily schedule of projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work collaboratively

Qualifications/Skills Preferred:

• Experienced in the design and cost estimating of metal fabricated equipment, specifically bulk material conveyance equipment. Screw conveyors, bucket elevators, belt conveyors, drag conveyors, etc.
• Experienced in calculating structural loads, equipment supports, etc.
• Experienced in field support of custom manufactured equipment.
• Working knowledge of all CEMA standards. (Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association)
