Description

Position Overview:

The Coffee Bar Attendant is responsible for preparing and serving quality food and beverage products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Beverage & Food Service: Will assist with all coffee drinks, made to order drinks, basic food prep as well as basic cleaning and organizing of goods. Will brew coffee daily, help fill ice machines, and stock new inventories Will wipe down tables, mop, clean work areas, dish wash and keep cafe clean and well maintained and will help with on-site catering events, assist with set up and service as well as catering pick-ups

Food Service: Engage with and provide superior service to all customers. Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them. Provide customers with product details, such as ingredients or preparation descriptions. Communicate with customers regarding orders, comments, and complaints.

Cash Handling: Ring up food orders using cash register and accept payment or make change. Balance receipts and payments in cash registers.

Teamwork: Contribute to a positive team environment. Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments. Identify alarms or changes in morale and performance. Communicate areas of concern to the manager. Maintain calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to set a positive example for the team. Anticipate customer and team needs by evaluating the environment, customers and co-workers for shifts or changes in behavior. Communicate observations to manager as necessary.

Safety & Sanitation: Follow operational policies and procedures. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines. Clean, sanitize and organize work areas, utensils, and equipment. Clean service and seating areas. Organize and stock supplies, service stations and products. Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning. Scrub and polish counters, tables, and other equipment. Clean glasses, dishes, and fountain equipment. Perform other duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes, to keep equipment and facilities sanitary.

Additional projects and assignments as needed.

Qualifications


Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn new things and demonstrate the ability to apply new skills.
  • Ability to work with little guidance, following previously provided instructions once trained.
  • Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year of Barista experience required. Strong food prep skills preferred.
  • Willingness to comply with strict dress code requirements.
  • Willingness to maintain personal hygiene and follow hand washing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to meet operating policies and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and understand others, including discovering and responding to customer needs through clear and pleasant communication.
  • Previous experience with ALOHA system or POS system is highly preferred

KSAs:

  • Customer Service — Working with the public. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Food/Beverage Production — Knowledge of techniques and equipment for preparing, serving, storing and handling food and beverage products.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking — The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Service Orientation — Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Social Perceptiveness — Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Adjusting personal actions in relation to others' actions.

  • Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with Others — Handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.

Physical Demands

  • Arm-Hand Steadiness — The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Standing and Continuous Movement - The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
  • Lifting and Strength — Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. May include copping, cutting, stocking, labeling, etc.
  • Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
