Job Summary

Provides dental services to patients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provides dental diagnostic and treatment services to patients.
    • Performs dental examinations and creates treatment plans.
    • Maintains accurate dental patient records in electronic health record (EHR) and completes documentation within timelines in established policies and procedures.
    • Provides dental treatment as listed in treatment plan.
    • Refers patients to appropriate external/specialty care as needed.
    • Adheres to established scheduling templates in provision of patient care.
  • Participates in quality metrics directives and departmental quality improvement (QI) projects.
    • Attends practitioners’ meetings regularly.
    • Attends clinical site meetings regularly.
    • Attends practice-wide meetings regularly.
    • Reads emails and other platforms of communication within the organization.
    • Completes peer review.
    • Complies with Clinical Quality Measures expectations.
    • Uses resources to verify standards of care.
    • Modifies workflows as determined by department to attain QI objectives.
    • Consistently documents activities related to QI projects.
  • Participates in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program.
    • Obtains/maintains appropriate credentialing to supervise AEGD residents.
    • Provides clinical supervision to AEGD residents as they examine, treatment plan and treat patients.
    • Reviews and co-signs AEGD resident’s patient notes in EHR.

Qualifications and Skills

Graduate of an accredited Dental School with a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Current licensure as a Dentist in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) licensure. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
