POSITION SUMMARY:
Execute plans regarding various adaptive equipment and/or repairs as prescribed by a licensed health care practitioner- Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Physical Therapist.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for general repairs and/or fabrication of participant adaptive equipment, as prescribed.
2. Communicate with supervisor regarding consumers’ status/functioning as it relates to equipment.
3. Provide training to consumers’ families and/or direct care staff in specified equipment.
4. Refer and schedule consumers to repair clinic as needed.
5. Formulate and maintain an inventory list of equipment and supplies.
6. Confer licensed health care practitioners to obtain equipment information. Integrate input from participant, family, and direct care staff in relation to equipments needs.
7. Maintain confidentiality of all consumer-related information.
8. Sterilize therapeutic equipment before and after the treatment.
9. Ensure safety standards in the premises to prevent the risk of hazards.
10. Perform all other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: High School Diploma.
2. Knowledge in the areas of electrical circuitry, construction, wheelchairs, and the ability to repair equipment as needed.
3. Must demonstrate adequate/good written-verbal communication skills.
4. Physical demands: Must be able to lift 90lbs.
5. Valid NYS driver’s license: Must be able to travel/drive a van or car to cover assigned boroughs or tasks.
6. Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims acts, whistleblower protections and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.
