What You'll Do

• Champion Operations and Transition strategies, ensuring implementation of Production requirements within UPF
• In support of the UPF Production Support Manager, ensure safe and secure production processes and ensure implementation through an integrated strategy
• Review status and manage the design from testing and transition to operation ensuring the successful startup of UPF production activities
• Serves as a relief supervisor as requested, developing and monitoring operating and procedural practices and ensures documentation required by those practices is completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Provide general expertise on UPF Production Mission; handle information requests from UPF project elements and inside sources regarding UPF production
• Support Y-12 program offices and other associated DOE/NNSE offices to enable successful production activities within UPF

• To the UPF Production Support Manager for ensuring production processes schedule performance against project milestones
• To the Y-12 Commissioning Manager for the effective interface and integration of UPF with existing Y-12 production facilities
• To the UPF workforce for ensuring successful training, readiness planning/practice and production startup

• Authorized to manage the production craft workers to support mission deliverables when assigned as a relief supervisor or Production Support Manager
• Authorized to represent Production Support Manager at daily plan of day meeting and in interactions with maintenance for scheduling necessary maintenance on equipment
• Authorized to represent Production Support Manager in the coordination of all waste management activities
• Authorized to represent the Production Division in interactions with labor relations personnel and in interactions with personnel concerning product schedule, cost or quality
• Authorized to represent workers in development of procedures and operating protocols that directly affect the work conditions and job performance

What You Can Expect

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
• OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience; typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years
• OR PhD
• Ten or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting

Preferred Job Requirements

• Relevant experience in production operations environment and interfaces with production and maintenance personnel is desired
• Working knowledge of related production and facility support equipment, and maintenance processes are preferred
• A general understanding of the bargaining unit contract is desired
• Demonstrated understanding of Issues Management System and development of effective corrective action plans are desired
• Requires strong technical, organizational and communication skills
• A commitment to continuous process improvement and lean/7S concepts is required
• Demonstrated understanding of Conduct of Operations and Integrated Safety Management System principles and requirements are required
