Consolidated Municipality of Carson City is Hiring a WIC Program Specialist Near Carson, NV

JOB
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with Carson City Health & Human Services, located in Carson City, NV. Under general supervision, responsible for providing a wide range of services related to the WIC programs including assessments of nutritional health and disease for infants, children and women during the prenatal, postpartum and breastfeeding stages. This position is grant funded. Position is contingent upon grant funding continuing to be renewed/approved.Individuals may choose between the following Nevada PERS Retirement plans: Employer-Paid PERS: $18.5358- $27.8042 hourly / $38,554.36 - $57,832.84 annuallyEmployee/Employer-Paid PERS: $21.9982 - $32.9976 hourly / $45,756.36 - $68,635.06 annually To learn more about the Nevada Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS), click here. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.Provides nutrition and breastfeeding education, perform health assessments, and screen participants for eligibility; schedule appointments.Provides follow-up with families as required to maintain positive and consistent participation in the program. Enters new clients into system, establishes EBT accounts, issues food packages and provides other related duties required to assist clients with program participation.Processes incoming transfers from national WIC clinics and outgoing transfers. Attends collaborative and partnership meetings as required.Prepares a variety of monthly and quarterly reports on activities and operations; gathers statistical data.Provides training and education to clients.Perform cleaning of equipment and office space as required.Check-outs and check-in loaned out equipment to clients.Attends monthly meetings with other related agencies; travels to other areas as required.Orders needed supplies as required to maintain service levels.Assists in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, priorities and policies; identifies resource needs; recommends policies and procedures.Maintains confidentiality of files and information in accordance with regulations.Develop cooperative partnerships with community based organizations and agencies that will enhance the provision of services to clients.Contributes to the overall quality of the program's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
1. This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent upon grant funding continuing to be renewed and approved. 2.All new employees will serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months. Such employees are not subject to the collective bargaining agreement and may be laid off or discharged during this period for any reason, or no reason. 3. Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. 4.Any City employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency. 5.Employees may be required to complete Incident Command System training as a condition of continuing employment. 6.New employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation which cost the new employee $48.25 and a drug/alcohol screen which costs $36.50. Employment is contingent upon passing the background and the drug/alcohol screen.7.Carson City participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each applicant’s Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. All candidates who are offered employment with Carson City must complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 along with the required proof of their right to work in the United States and proof of their identity prior to starting employment.
