Dispatcher, Full Time

Job Description:
As a Connect Transit Dispatcher you will be a vital part of the communication hub that connects our customers, Maintenance Department, and the Bus Operators of our paratransit and fixed route services.
Wages:
· First year: $42,161 at $20.27 an hour
· 5% yearly increases
· Third year: $52,769 at $25.37 an hour

Responsibilities and Duties:
· Provide exceptional customer service over the phone and in person
· Professionally answer telephones and assist callers as needed
· Provide routing assistance to Bus Operators
· Complete and submit daily reports and documentation
· Respond to requests for assistance using a two-way radio
· Collect and enter service data in appropriate programs
· Relay communications between the Operations, Maintenance, and Administration
departments to support the daily operational needs of Mobility Service, Fixed Route,
and Microtransit
· Track service interruptions, alert Operators, and record variances
· Complete required yearly trainings (Diversity/Inclusion in the Workplace, Equal
Opportunity, etc.)
· Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
· Minimum age of 21
· Valid Illinois Driver’s License
· High School diploma or GED
· Acceptable driving record (No serious traffic or license violations within the last five
years)
· Pass background check
· Pass Department of Transportation Physical and pre-employment drug test, and
willingness to comply with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements
· Ability to work independently, yet take verbal and written direction
· Ability to work when needed, including nights, weekends, early mornings, and split
shifts
· Ability to interact with customers of varying abilities in a friendly, patient manner
· Ability to read, write, and speak English
· Ability to use general office machines, practices, and procedures correctly
· Ability to use match for basic cash transactions
· Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office applications
· Ability to work in a professional group office setting
· Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records
· Ability to meet the physical demands required of this position
