Confluence Academies is Hiring a School Nurse Near St. Louis, MO

POSITION TITLE: School Nurse DEPARTMENT: Operations


REPORTS TO:
Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role of the school nurse is to support student learning by promoting and encouraging good health and safety. The school nurse seeks to maintain, improve and advance the health of students with respect to injury/illness assessment, response and reporting. School Nurse performs or coordinates screening for health-related factors impacting student learning and dispenses prescribed medication accordingly.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Maintains health records on students to include immunizations, screening programs, body measurements and significant health problems
  • Maintains and updates student emergency cards
  • Completes annual audit of health records for immunization levels
  • Contact parents to inform them of immunization needs, exclusion letters to those in non-compliance and referral letters to parents regarding vision, hearing and scoliosis
  • Maintains logs for office visits
  • Prepares health care plans for significant health problems and advises teachers of special care
  • Prepares annual health reports for State, County and District
  • Prepares student incident or accident reports
  • Assess student illnesses; makes decisions in terms of immediate emergency care
  • Performs physical assessments to evaluate student illness; makes appropriate referrals
  • Provides follow-up care as required
  • Administers medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Consults parents and physicians regarding student's medical care
  • Provides physical care of emergency illness, communicable disease testing as warranted, blood pressure monitoring


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Licensed Practical Nurse preferred, or Registered Nurse required and a minimum of (3) years of demonstrated experience in related area of concentration

Basic Life Support (BLS) first aid certification required

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities: In addition to having a thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures used in healthcare, candidate must have sincere desire to work with children. Must be able to transport between school buildings and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Confluence requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to utilize technology in establishing appropriate record keeping program for students, programs, and staff.

The employee is responsible for safety, well-being, and work output of others. Must be able to meet demands from several people.
