Production Manager, Extrusion Department

1. Position Summary:

(Overall purpose of this position)

The Production Manager oversees the operations of the Extrusion Department and serves as the department’s key manage; thereby increasing productivity and reducing expenses by making sure their team is well trained, supervised, and the workflow is well organized and planned.

2. Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:

  • Floor level working supervisory role with 10-15 direct reports.
  • Manages Extrusion processing and Thermoform processing Departments.
  • Manages Quality department. Implements Quality procedures and ensures process is followed.
  • Manages and evaluates resources and supplies to ensure productivity and minimal downtime.
  • Oversees employees in the QC, Thermo, and Rubber Departments.
  • Reduces expenses and increases productivity across all product lines.
  • Ensures all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines.
  • Sets ambitious production goals and communicates them to key personnel.
  • Provides motivation, support, and guidance to all employees.
  • Communicates any problems or obstacles to senior management.
  • Establishes workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity.
  • Creates schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels.
  • Ensures compliance with all related laws and regulations.
  • Keeps supervisor inform on key issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

3. Qualifications:

A. Specific knowledge, training or skills required to perform the duties of this position. Specific concepts, courses, training programs or required certifications:

  • 5 years experience in manufacturing operations
  • 2 years experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as a group.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Basic knowledge of the accounting system
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing materials
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate changes and market conditions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.

C. Previous experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

  • Must have experience in plastics manufacturing leading a team and demonstrate results based on history.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
