We are an agency located in Suffolk County, NY seeking a passionate and experienced Workforce Development Director to join our team and lead initiatives aimed at empowering students and adults with specific needs through workforce training and development.

The position of Workforce Development Director offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and adults with specific needs and contribute to the advancement of inclusive practices in the workforce. The primary responsibility of the Workforce Development Director will be to design, implement and oversee workforce development programs aimed at enhancing the skills and employability of students and adults in the communities we serve. The Director will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders to create inclusive pathways to employment and economic independence for students and adults with specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive workforce development strategy for youths with specific needs, including vocational training, occupational skill development, job placement and career advancement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with educators, employers, government agencies and community organizations to identify opportunities and resources for workforce development initiatives.
  • ·Establish partnerships with businesses and industries to create inclusive hiring practices and promote diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, best practices and policies related to workforce development and disability rights and integrate this knowledge into program planning and implementation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of workforce development programs through data collection, performance metrics and stakeholder feedback.
  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate for the rights and inclusion of students and adults with specific needs in the workforce, both internally and externally.
  • Manages resources to ensure they are effectively utilized.
  • Prepare reports, presentations and provide ongoing feedback to the administration of the agency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, special education, vocational rehabilitation, social work or related field, master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the field of workforce development initiatives.
  • Experience with writing employment grants a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the issues relating to youths and individuals with specific needs in the workforce.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build partnerships across sectors.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
  • Passion for promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workforce.
  • Must have leadership skills and ability to build and motivate team
  • Ideal candidate will be self motivated and self-driven for success

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
