Job Title: Workers' Comp Paralegal

We are a plaintiff's personal injury law firm in Raleigh, NC seeking an experienced Workers' Comp Paralegal to join our team.Assists the workers’ compensation attorneys with the handling of workers’ compensation cases

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Communicate with clients to obtain information for and in preparation of discovery & litigation.
• Manage workers’ compensation attorneys’ calendars and scheduling order deadlines.
• Schedule depositions and other case-related events.
• Prepare for hearings by drafting pleadings, exhibits, and coordinating witness interviews.
• Prepare mediation submissions.
• Assist attorneys in preparing drafts of legal pleadings, discovery, and discovery responses.
• Prepare affidavits and organize exhibits.
• Create an index of unpaid medical bills and work with the WC Case Manager to assist with the same.
• Request medical bills and medical records from providers as needed.
• Prepare summaries of medical records as needed.
• Review and evaluate incoming discovery and Rule 607 documentation.
• Prepare settlement demand packages in preparation for mediation and informal settlement negotiations.
• Review and organize client information and files.
• Assist attorney in drafting legal documents, completing forms, answering discovery requests, preparing for hearings, and preparing responses to motions.
• Prepare files for hearings, subpoena witnesses, etc.
• Coordinate expert witnesses and investigators.
• Assist attorneys with legal research and preparing memorandums and briefs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree or certificate in paralegal studies or equivalent work experience.
• At least 1 years of experience in a workers' compensation law firm.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation related to workers' compensation.
