Confidential is Hiring a Teacher - Middle School 2024-2025 Near Sonoma, CA

The Middle School Grades (6-8) are child-centered and developmentally appropriate. It is in these grades that we lay down the foundation for the student’s future school life.

Our teachers carefully guide the 5-8th grade child, instilling in them a love of learning, confidence in their own voice and respect for others. We value a young child’s natural desire to learn through exploration, creation, and self-expression. Beginning in Kindergarten students learn what it means to be a member of our school community, which to us means students who embody the ability to Love, Learn, and Lead. Even the youngest child can see their calling to love others, learn about the world around them, and how they can be a leader today and for the future!

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the school’s educational mission by challenging, engaging, and nurturing students
  • Establish and enforce expectations for behavior and procedures for maintaining classroom management among the students for whom responsible
  • Support the social and emotional development of students
  • Create an environment that is student centered, differentiated, and fosters open discussion with the freedom to express varied points of view
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons and units following curriculum guidelines and school benchmarks
  • Assign grade level classwork and homework
  • Prepare materials and classroom for class activities
  • Engage and support students of varied identities, lifestyles, and beliefs
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues
  • Maintain regular communication of classroom learning through weekly digital newsletters
  • Collaborate with specialist teachers regarding individual behavioral and learning needs for specific students
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws and school policies including two narrative reports annually and semester report cards
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
  • Assess students regularly through unit assessments, reading assessments, projects, and class work
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, a teaching certificate or credential or equivalent professional experience which would translate to successful classroom teaching. Advanced degree preferred but not required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Warm, enthusiastic educator who can support diverse groups of learners in appropriately exploring each child’s individual gifts and talents.
  • A love for teaching and one who demonstrates humility and a commitment to collaboration, personal growth, and the school’s success.
  • Teaching experience, preferably in an independent school setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • A distinguished sense of decorum and discretion when interacting with all community members.
  • Additional skills, talents, and experience to enrich our independent school community such as extracurricular clubs, coaching, advising, and field trip supervision experience.
  • An interest in and openness to professional growth and development
  • Collaborative spirit, growth mindset
  • General knowledge of technology as a teaching aid

Requirements:

Cleared Background check, TB Test, and First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to receive First Aid training.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $74,500.00 per year
