Confidential is Hiring an Interior Designer Near Knoxville, TN

A thriving Interior Design firm and curated boutique is seeking an Interior Designer to join their leadership team. This person will work closely with the Owner to achieve company objectives, maintain a strong and positive brand, and ensure client satisfaction by overseeing high-quality design projects from start to finish with support from the Executive Team and Executive Assistant.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

  • An excelent designer – knows how to curate beautiful spaces and create designs/canvas that are aesthetically pleasing, technically correct with accurate measurements and furniture sizes that fit the space and meet the client’s expectations
  • A professional communicator – asks questions, actively listens, drives clarity to understand the customer’s needs/wants and communicates regularly with them in a courteous, kind, timely and clear manner
  • Detail oriented and organized – meticulous in scheduling appointments, keeping client files up to date and organized, being prepared in advance with all details and documents, canvas and contracts prior to client meetings and completing the furniture order form for all products to be ordered
  • Hard working and full of integrity – works diligently to complete tasks and logs all hours
  • Flexible and able to multi-task – enjoys managing various tasks while also interacting with other members of the team and clients
  • Highly motivated and solution focused – tackles problems without hesitation, always looking for ways to improve the process and client experience

Being an Interior Designer requires managing the entirety of the design project from start to finish to including:

  • Completing every step in the design process as outlined in the Design Project Process
  • Follow all company processes and procedures
  • Managing client file – making a hard copy client file including the Prequalification form, graph paper, company contract (signed), and updating any relevant notes and communication in Zoho CRM
  • Creating and updating client files in Google Drive
  • Attending client appointments, getting measurements if needed and listening actively to client’s wants and needs to ensure client satisfaction
  • Drafting and sending estimates for design projects
  • Creating canva presentations including pricing, item numbers and notes
  • Logging and tracking all hours (including billable hours so clients can be invoiced) with details about what was accomplished during that time
  • Being the primary point of contact for all clients – communicating with them regularly to make sure the project is on track, the client is informed and expectations are being met
  • Scheduling planning/design time for each project as well as all follow-up appointments with clients (scheduling tasks may be assigned to Executive Assistant in Zoho)
  • Updating the CRM (Zoho) with all client notes and updates as well as all tasks assigned to Executive Assistant
  • Completely filling out the Furniture Order Form for every product, having the client sign it and submitting it to the Executive Assistant for processing/ordering
  • Scheduling and attending the delivery/installation of orders to the client when needed (this is the client’s decision)

Additional duties include (12-15 hours/week):

  • Attending internal/team meetings and coaching
  • Communicating with vendors
  • Completing office duties to include
  • Email/office paperwork
  • following all company procedures
  • Keeping a clean conference room by returning all samples to their proper place after appointments
  • Assisting with redesign and cleanliness of showroom
  • Participating in ordering decisions for the showroom
  • Filling in at the front desk/showroom (rare)
  • Packing accessories for clients
  • Invoicing time
  • Invoicing subcontractor invoices and receiving payments
  • Completing CRM tasks
  • Receiving client contracts
  • Sending client updates for furniture orders
  • Following company damage claim procedures
  • Scheduling final photos with clients

Pay and Hours

This is a primary commission job where the candidate will be paid on the basis of the revenue that they generate. The program is as follows:

  • Commission of 15% of gross profit on furnishings items sold [(Sales Price - Cost of Item - Shipping ) x 15%]
  • Commission of 10% of profit on items sold and design hours billed – when working with a co-designer {Each Designer [Sales Price - Cost of Item - Shipping] x 10%}
  • Commission of Design hours is 50% of those invoiced and paid will be Paid bi weekly on regular payroll timing. (e.g. if designer bills $120 / hour then designer will be paid $60 / hour on their compensation)
  • Mileage reimbursed at current IRS established and published rate (currently @ $0.65 per mile) and will be paid from closest design center location to client meetings/ project location.
  • Mileage to market (if applicable) will be reimbursed at [distance from closet design center location to Market location].
  • Out of state clients must be invoiced for travel time in order for travel expenses to be reimbursed.
  • Market will be compensated at $28/hour per day and 8 hours per day cap for time spent actively shopping. This does not include travel time.
  • Compensation Range is $40K to $150K per year depending on designer’s sales/performance. We have designers that made $150k on their W2 for year 2023.

Pay: $49,815.00 - $150,000.00 per year
