Confidential is Hiring an Interior Designer for New Construction Near Brevard, NC

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for providing exceptional service to new home buyers, turning their exterior and interior design requests into detailed selections with respect to their budget parameters and MountainSide Homebuilders (MSHB) construction process and schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates selections meetings with clients to determine initial goals and requirements with attention to goals with the budget parameters;
  • Prepares for selections meetings by compiling and reviewing all necessary associated administrative paperwork;
  • Be well organized, and able to maintain attention to construction calendars of multiple jobs;
  • Assists homebuyers in the selections process; provides professional counsel and advice on the types of materials and/or potential upgrades that are most appropriate – including Change Orders;
  • Communicates in writing with the Project Manager on behalf of the client regarding selections and changes;
  • Conferences with Buyers/Owners as needed regarding selections, signatures, and conveying information;
  • Maintains relationships with pertinent suppliers. Insures appropriate cut sheets are available for the Project Manager;
  • Secures information and prepares or assists in the preparation of Change Orders for the clients as necessary;
  • Maintains most current selections and specification detail;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:

  • Associates Degree minimum, Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  • Interior design certification highly preferred;
  • 3 – 4 years of experience in home design, customer service, sales, and/or construction;
  • Must have some understanding and interpretation skills regarding construction drawings;
  • Exceptional professional verbal and written communication required;
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills;
  • Strong visual design skills including proportion, aesthetics, and color;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Works well under pressure;
  • Ability to multitask, work as part of a team, and work independently on multiple projects all at once;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Maintains a positive attitude;
  • Must work well with others;
  • Able to be decisive and flexible.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment is representative of an office and field setting
  • In the office Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm and in-field as required per essential duties

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to clearly convey thoughts and information as well as be a good listener. Vision abilities required by the job are close vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, and office supplies.
  • In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with their arms and hands, and to stoop; kneel or crouch, moving tile, granite, cabinets, hardwoods, etc. The employee must be able to walk jobsites and houses under construction. Employee is also required to have a valid driver’s license and will be asked to drive.
