Working closely with the CEO, the Interim CFO/COO will evaluate, advise and oversee the implementation of a new phase of the organization’s financial and operating environment as well as oversee its finance, human resources, IT / enterprise systems, risk and compliance, legal, and facilities functions while a search is conducted for the full time hire. An immediate priority for the Interim CFO/COO will be to directly manage a comprehensive review and assessment of the current processes, tools, systems, vendors, etc. Based on results, this individual will prioritize, design, and implement new and more efficient structures, processes, and systems for the organization.
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of financial management experience, including experience as a CFO or similar role. In addition, candidates must be familiar with the unique financial challenges and regulations facing non-profit organizations including fund accounting principles, restricted vs. unrestricted funds, compliance with IRS regulations for tax-exempt organizations (e.g., Form 990 filings), and grant reporting requirements. Certification as a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) or Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP) is preferred. Specific expertise establishing new functional areas with a special focus on building and managing finance and operations functions is highly desirable.
