Global Payroll Director – Denver, Colorado

Reporting to the Vice President, HR Technology and Operations, the Global Payroll Director will oversee a team of 20 and lead all domestic and international payroll operations. This role is responsible for the development of the strategic direction of the payroll processes and systems enterprise wide.
Role Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive global payroll strategy.
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with regulations and implementation of best practices across all regions where Western Union operates.
Lead the design, development, and improvements on the functionality of systems used internally to the payroll department.
Perform duties under minimal supervision, escalating most serious issues to senior management.
Interpret and allocate resources to support strategic goals.
Oversee end to end payroll processing for employees worldwide, including but not limited to salary payments, tax withholdings, and benefits administration.
Ensure compliance with local tax laws, labor regulations, and statutory requirements in all countries of operation.
Mitigate risk related to payroll processing through effective controls and audits.
Manage relationships with payroll service providers and vendors to ensure quality service delivery, adherence to SLAs, and cost efficiency.
Identify opportunities to streamline and automate payroll processes worldwide.
Drive continuous improvements initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of payroll operations.
Generate and analyze payroll reports to provide insights to senior management regarding payroll costs, trends, and variances.
Provide training and development opportunities for payroll team to enhance their skills and knowledge of payroll processes and regulations.
Role Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
10-12 years of experience in payroll management, global payroll operations experience is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and labor practices in multiple countries.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and cultures.
Strong proficiency in payroll systems and software, with proven experience implementing and optimizing payroll technologies.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex payroll data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
Strong mathematical, problem solving, and analytical skills.

Salary
The base salary range is $175,000 - $200,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus long-term and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance.
