About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to oversee its legal affairs and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the company's strategic direction, representing it as a legal thought leader, and ensuring that the legal team meets the business's needs in a proactive and partnership-oriented manner. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including understanding the industry, operations, and sales model to support business plans, mitigating risks, and providing creative and cost-effective legal solutions. The General Counsel will also lead the in-house legal department, manage and mentor the legal team, and advise on a variety of legal matters, such as contracts, intellectual property, HR, litigation, and corporate governance. Additionally, the role includes serving as an ambassador for the company in external engagements and providing legal support for major corporate transactions.Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school, membership in at least one U.S. state bar (CA or DE preferred), and a minimum of 10 years of progressive legal experience, with at least 5 years managing legal teams in-house. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience in strategic business agreements, commercial contract negotiation, and shaping approaches to government policy and regulations. Strong legal judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to deliver business-focused solutions are essential. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who is comfortable with public speaking and can effectively communicate complex legal matters to stakeholders at all levels. Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and a user-centric, business-centric approach to legal matters are also key qualifications.
