Job Summary:
An opportunity is available for a Finance Controller who will serve as the financial steward of the organization, overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring precision in financial reports, compliance with legal regulations, and execution of effective financial strategies and controls. The role encompasses various financial functions including cash forecasting, profit and loss statement preparation and review, balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis, and more.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Supervising the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with accounting principles.
- Managing cash flow forecasting, job cost accounting, and financial analysis to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting according to the company’s financial closing schedule.
- Leading accounting operations encompassing ledger accounts, receivables, payables, and payroll processing.
- Establishing and upholding internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial transaction and reporting integrity.
- Collaborating with external auditors for the annual audit, providing necessary information, and implementing recommendations.
- Developing and managing the annual budget, forecasting financial outcomes, and reporting variances to the management team.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Mentoring the accounting team, identifying training needs, and overseeing professional development.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role within the construction industry.
License/Certification:
Preferred:
- Advanced degree or certification (CPA or CMA) preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Associated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in construction accounting, including job cost and percentage of completion accounting.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Procore, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

Working Environment & Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Travel may be required for business meetings and audits (10-20%).
- Occasionally extended hours and overtime may be required to meet workload demands.
- Primarily office-based, with extended periods of sitting and computer work.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
