About the Role

The Company, a leading broadcasting, digital media, and telecommunications entity, is seeking an Executive Director for Software Engineering with a focus on data. This role is pivotal in providing strategic leadership and executive oversight to all aspects of the Software Development and Engineering department projects and activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and driving organizational strategies, identifying and evaluating software and solutions for handling large volumes of data, ensuring smooth operation and data quality, and managing a global team of approximately 80 professionals. The Executive Director will also be expected to communicate and establish relationships with vendors and other functional areas of the business, provide leadership and mentorship to team members, and work with architects and product management teams to influence decisions on architecture and product directions.Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in managing engineering teams, with at least 5 years managing teams of 50 or more. Experience in building enterprise data and analytic platforms, as well as with relevant data products and services such as Snowflake and Databricks, is essential. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, and a sample of writing may be requested. While not mandatory, a preference is given to candidates with an understanding of the online video business, the TV and cable industry, and the challenges facing both the industry, content owners, and distributors. The role demands a leader who can align business strategy with organizational objectives, manage an operational budget, and make investment recommendations when opportunities arise.
