Job Title: Director of Nursing (Mental Health Inpatient Facility)

Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within our mental health inpatient facility. This position oversees all nursing operations, promotes a culture of excellence, and fosters collaboration among interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The DON is responsible for upholding regulatory compliance, implementing best practices, and maintaining a supportive environment for staff growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Provide visionary leadership to the nursing staff, fostering a culture of compassion, integrity, and excellence.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures to enhance nursing services and overall patient care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, ensuring adherence to professional standards and performance goals.
  • Clinical Oversight:
  • Ensure the delivery of evidence-based nursing care that meets the unique needs of mental health patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans and treatment modalities.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and clinical indicators, implementing interventions as needed to optimize care quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies, including but not limited to Joint Commission, CMS, and state licensing requirements.
  • Oversee quality assurance activities, conducting audits and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging practices, and legislative changes impacting mental health nursing.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress, address concerns, and coordinate care transitions.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing, administration, and external stakeholders to promote organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Staff Development:
  • Develop and implement educational programs and in-service training to enhance the skills and competencies of nursing staff.
  • Support professional growth opportunities, encouraging certification, continuing education, and career advancement.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, recognition, and employee engagement to enhance job satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in a mental health or psychiatric setting.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in mental health nursing principles, therapies, and interventions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including strategic planning, team building, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and risk management practices.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

Physical Requirements:
The position may require extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting of equipment or patients. The Director of Nursing must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
