Construction Surveyor
Construction Company located in Northern Virginia, is seeking a Construction Surveyor to join our growing team.
This is a Full-Time position, located in Northern VA (Fairfax area).
Essential Duties:
Dependable, consistent, hardworking, self-starter.
Follow Daily Procedures as set forth by the project supervisors and company policies.
Properly follow OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the immediate attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator.
Use contract drawings, specifications, and survey equipment to layout points, ROW, grades, etc.
Provide grade staking for excavations, grading, and site work.
Use various surveying techniques and equipment such as total stations, robotic total stations, GPS, laser levels, and site levels for construction layout.
Set up and review of data used for GPS Machine control.
Check, and re-check the established control points, point layout, elevations, calculations, contours, etc. to ensure accuracy and conformance to contract requirements and production.
Perform routine as-built surveys of completed work in an efficient and timely manner.
Maintain a detailed daily field log for record-keeping purposes.
Must have ability to lay out the job onsite for the foreman, understand it for quick production
Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience with the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy civil construction work.
Knowledge of mathematics is required.
Ability to work within very precise limits or standards of accuracy, in all field conditions.
Ability to read and comprehend design drawings, specifications, and computers.
Has in-depth understanding of the methods and calculations involved in leveling, traversing, topographic (cross-section) surveys, construction surveys, mapping, and determining quantities and volumes.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to use various survey equipment and tools properly and safely.
Must be able to travel and work overtime (may include night and weekend work locally or out of the area).
Must meet all essential physical requirements necessary to do this job.
